What is it about the challenge of losing weight that increases interest in food?!
Out of nowhere comes the idea to bake chocolate chip cookies.
It’s 90+ degrees!
Summertime.
Watermelon season.
Suddenly I want to bake. Not for myself, of course. For our troops. All the troops in Afghanistan!
And neighboring countries.
Until…
I hear a familiar hymn above the rumble of my stomach,
“Guide me, O thou great Jehovah, pilgrim through this barren land. I am weak but thou art mighty; hold me with thy powerful hand. Bread of heaven, bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more; feed me till I want no more.
That’s a recipe for real and long life.
with an occasional chocolate chip cookie with walnuts.
Nuts are good for you.
How I do rationalize.
Soon I’ll be baking under the guise of improving the health of others, as long as I add nuts.
Time for one more chorus.
Feed me till I want no more.

Thanks for the laugh!
I love this use of Guide My Oh Thou Great Jehovah, Jan. Who of us hasn’t had those moments when we were
trying hard to watch our calories only to find, this is a war we are in! You help us so often to laugh at ourselves
without getting on a guilt trip! I love it!
Is this salvation by justification?
Jan,
I could easily relate to this as I have always have had a challenge. In fact, since high school at least I have always enjoyed good food!
Don’t give up the battle. We are in it together.
Hahahahahaha – I read this to a bunch of my co-workers! Oh how I relate! <3
