Notes from Jan

Lust Is A Four Letter Word

September 19, 2016

No surprise there.

Surprised that yesterday’s sermon focused on lust.  Father Dean Borgman must’ve drawn the short straw, when they decided who’d preach on which of the Seven Deadly Sins.  None would make you wave your hand wildly, hoping you’d get picked.

Those of us feeling smug, older and wiser, took notice when Dean said, “You can lust after power and possessions, also.”

Sunday School followed church. The morning’s topic: Human Trafficking.

By the time I got to my car, I was up to my eyeballs in  Sunday’s subject, which is where the problem usually begins.

The eyes.

Reminds me to get my eyes checked.

Might need new glasses.

Sunday’s sermon and adult education class presented God’s eye-chart.  No problem reading or hearing God’s words, it’s the doing .

Wonder if a set of blinders would help or maybe hum, “Oh, be careful little eyes what you see.”

We can also lust after food.. . we could probably all name our “poison” 🙁

Always important to remember not to just to listen, but to do – so easy to become complacent. So easy to become proud just because we have listened and have the knowledge in our heads.

    Thanks for sharing!
