Basil didn’t feel well.
He and I’d been huddled in the Snuggery(small den), reading aloud, trying to stay warm on a wintry-April day last week.
After a while, I got up to heat water for a cup of tea and fix something for Basil. Cold winds from the north rattled the Perch, still sunshine spilled into the living room, spreading warmth. While I puttered in the kitchen, Basil wandered into the living room. When next I looked, he was curled up on the floor, swaddled in sunlight, sound asleep.
Not a bad image to hold onto when not feeling well, or life’s storms pummel and winter clings like barnacles on the soul. I’ll try to do a Basil, wander off the beaten path, curl into the sunshine of God’s provision and rest.

That’s a sweet picture! Love that you are having the best company ever with your Basil! Get lots of rest . . .at least, the weather makes staying inside a lot easier! Real Spring is still coming . . . and when it does, you’ll be really ready to do life without the pain! Love you, dear friend . . .
Oh that’s a beautiful word picture!! So much love, prayers and huge hugs dear Jan. <3
I so fully agree that this is a beautiful picture of being wrapped up in God’s loving arms! Many times we need the sunshine of His unconditional love to hold us together!
Rest is good. Rest for the soul is wonderful and worth seeking.
Basil is learning important lessons and will be a living legacy for his grandmother.
Blessings, Dale
Love the simplicity of your words and imagery – Snuggery and Perches – and of course overlooking the ocean! Also following with intentionality your ‘knee recovery’ as of course it is in the not-too- distant future for many of us! Hope all is well
and that Basil awakened after his sun-nap as another faithful attendant! Hugs and hello to the Lefevers – love the size of this blog world!
