Almost Home. A Note From Jan. Jud's Journal Entry Twenty-eight.
LUNDER 1032 November 10, 2014 Day +26 Forgot to write down the counts before I left MGH today. That’s a good sign, I think. WBC went down a little….still in normal range. Red count came up and some fluid came off. Doctors continue to be encouraged, saying, “Counts look good.”
I’m onto another count… counting days until Jud comes home. Doctors are saying, “This week.” But so much still needs to happen: more fluid off, more agility walking and using stairs, since our bedroom’s on the 2nd floor… We never gave that a thought when we bought the condo about twenty years ago.
Today I found myself singing/praying parts of “BRING HIM HOME” from Les Miserables. Seems like I should apologize to Steve Hunt or other great voices who’ve sung that tenor role. I twisted a few lyrics and sang with less pathos, but no one was listening except the only One who mattered. “God on high Hear my prayer In my need You have always been there.” NO NEED TO ALTER THOSE LYRICS …God is faithful.
Jud’s not young Nor afraid

Couldn’t bring myself to sing the “if I die” part for obvious reasons.
Brought Jud’s shoes to him today. He’s padded around in stocking feet for weeks. Shoes . . .a sign of walking out of Lunder. “All God’s children got shoes.”
Cleaned the house with the help of two professional angels. Got the car cleaned in preparation for “bringing him home.” Heather comes tomorrow. Chad winterized “Popo’s brand new boat,” as the grandchildren still call the boat Jud’s owned for 14 years! Good signs.
Now, we wait and pray.
“God on high Hear my prayer In my need You have always been there.”
Bring him home, please, not to heaven, yet, but to our perch by the sea.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Yay! Jud's going home with Jan not only to their "little" perch, but also to their BEAUTIFUL perch with its awesome ocean views and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, flowing from every corner. Thanks be to God! We're ecstatic.

It is always an inspiration to read your updates on Caring Bridge along with the many comments from friends and family. We pray daily for you and Jud and thank God for his steady improvement. It will be wonderful to have him at home "where he belongs."

JoDee joins me in prayer lifted on high....I think we will just say our prayers and leave the singing part to those God chooses for great singing voice. We know the prayers, no matter the voice, are heard by our Lord.

Dearest Jan, please let Jud know that we continue to keep you both in our prayers. We are praying for a smooth transition home for Jud this week. I had a thought as I read your concern about the stairs with Jud being so weak. You may want to look into Stannah Chair Lifts- they can rent you a chair lift short or long term and with option to buy - a stair lift could be helpful until Jud regains his strength.
