Sports Talk
Sports talk.
There's much to learn from the world of sports.
Last Monday the Boston Marathon took place. I can 't tell you the names of the winners, nor can I give you the names of three other marathoners, captured on camera as they willed themselves across the finish line.
The day, hotter than runners like, made staying hydrated a major concern. One runner collapsed several yards from the finish line, overcome by heat stroke. His mind, blurred by heat and dehydration, knew to keep moving but his legs, now jelly, wouldn't cooperate. At this point, two strangers, both runners, nearing the end of this grueling race, stopped.
An unforgettable scene. Two runners, skewing their personal best times, stopping to help one who could go no farther on his own. The two men each held one of the arms of the collapsed runner. The fallen one dangled between them, shoes scraping along the pavement as they hauled him and themselves towards that elusive finish line on Boylston street.
Two finished strong.
The third, made it with the help of strangers who stopped and stooped to make something happen for one broken-down man.
The winner?
Compassion.
Hope it's catchy.

That's fabulous!
Finally, an analogy with which I can identify! As a compassionate competitor, I appreciate the wisdom.
Am I going to get kicked off the blog?
Blessings, Dale
