Angels High and Low

Went to Safeway to pick up a few groceries and a newspaper. Still like holding newspapers and books more than reading online.  Driving out of the parking lot, I noticed a cluster of  inflatable holiday decorations across the street. A blown-up stable with Mary, Joseph and Jesus took center stage, surrounded by familiar characters from movies and TV, newcomers to Bethlehem.  There was Olaf from Frozen, Frosty, Rudolph, Eeyore with Scooby Doo standing closest to the manger, offering  candy canes.

What's happened to us?

As I write, Basil sits nearby, building with Legos and Star Wars figures while humming, "Angels We Have Heard on High."

"Come to Bethlehem and see Him whose birth the angels sing,

Come, adore on bended knee, Christ, the Lord, the newborn King."

Blessed Basil, sing on.  I need the reminder from somewhere inside you, The Song lives.

And I need your jokes.

"Momo, why are ET's eyes so big?"

"I have no idea, Bazy."

"He saw his phone bill."

And so it goes, life here and now, interruptible and blessed by a holy undercurrent, the flow of relentless Love from the One heralded by angel-song and one small grandson.

Angels I have heard below.

Gloria in excelsis Deo

Once again I see angels ascending and descending.

They're everywhere, often where we least expect. Enjoy being surprised.

All the angels on Cape Ann have gone south to be warm. Stay where you are . . .

Wishing you a healthy, peaceful, joyful new year, Jan . . .

Thanks, dear Nancy. I've seen the weather back home. Happy to be in the 50s in northern California. As for angels, keep your eye out for snow angels.

God has given you good eyes - you see things others don't, but need to see, so thanks for the new lenses.

Thanks, Dale. Time with the Grands improves my eyesight. As for my ears, they need hearing aides or closed captioning, then I'm "all ears." What a sight!

Wishing you a much-blessed 2018, Jan. I am at Newfound Lake where the temperature is minus 6, but am surrounded by the warmth of family, memories of my precious husband who built this place for us to gather, and beautiful thoughts of angels. Thanks for that wonderful reminder.

Jan Carlberg

And a "much-blessed 2018" to you and your family, dear Ruth. Sounds like you're in a cozy place. If it snows, your Grands can make snow angels.

Happy New Year dear Jan. Gloria!

Jan Carlberg

And to you, as well, dear Susan.
