Something Worth Remembering While We Wait
Before flying to California, I flipped the calendar to April. I like doing that, just not as often. Minutes and days used to fly by. Now, it's months and years. But back to the calendar in my kitchen. April showed a bouquet of springtime flowers. Underneath the caption read: Good things take time.
You and I know that it's true about seeds we plant and projects we begin. It's also true about people and ourselves. And that's where I find it hardest to be patient. It's hard to wait and watch, to keep hoping and praying, Or wondering if God's losing patience with me or them. We're slow learners, at best. And that's part of why I was so taken by these words from Rowan Williams book, Passions of the Soul.
"God does not see us reactively; God is not roused to fury and disgust by the sight of us- nor is God persuaded to love us because we are so successful. God sees what is there, embraces it in His love and transforms it in His grace - the essence of the Gospel of Jesus Christ."(p.17)
Maybe you needed to read those words, as much as I did.

So good!
Thanks, dear Wendy. It's the gospel truth but hard to believe sometimes, isn't it.
So very thankful for His grace and mercies that are new every morning!
If good things take time (a statement with which I agree), then that is good news for those of us in the third trimester of life, as I trust we are "gooder" than we used to be! Grace alone.
I'm "running" last laps so I'm grateful for all the help I can get. And looking back I am amazed at the Grace I've received by God and others tapped by God to help me along the way. You're one of them, dear Maggie. You're much younger than I, but still you've taught me. Thank you.
