Still Learning
It's happened more than once. Reading something in the Boston Globe and feeling so disgusted, I couldn't finish the article.
Recent stories on human trafficking in a town not that far away form here, political bragging and bashing, alt-realities on so many fronts, I stopped reading.
Before I could head somewhere safer, like sports or the crossword puzzle, God turned my attention from revulsion to repentance through a glance in the mirror and words from a hymn.

I guess we can feel possessive about anything, including salvation for ourselves, but not for others. It's hard to accept the adage: "there (fill in the person), but for the grace of God go I."
Keep challenging us.

Jan - I just found out about this site. So glad! I loved what you said "to me." I need to weed out a lot of stuff. My kids and grandkids aren't going to want to inherit it...or so my husband keeps telling me. Thank you for gently reminding us about not holding on to everything. Blessings to you Jan. Your grace-full reflections reminded me of the Apostle Paul writing "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief." He must have recalled Stephen and the countless others he persecuted, imprisoned, and killed. The grace of God just isn't fair--thankfully.
