Forget Not All His Benefits. A Note From Jan.
Good to be home. Forsythia showing off, greening of willows, shoots and sprouts announcing, “There’s more to come.” Daffodils, like a cheerful thumbs up to springtime.
Good to be home. Sorting mail. Doing laundry. The routines that can be a kind of salvation. Don’t think…just do.
Wrestling with what to say at baccalaureate service in two weeks. I’ve given a title to the folks who print the program. Now what? Swinging between feeling either empty or overwhelmed with ideas. One day I’m in Florida sliding down a water slide, hands over my head feeling free. The next I’m home, feeling like I’m sliding into a pit and stuck.
Still, it’s good to be home. To remember God’s faithfulness to me and generations before me. To read again, “Praise the Lord, O MY soul: all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O MY soul, and forget not all his benefits.” (Psalm 103)
God’s benefits…like the Haitian taxi driver in Florida who took me to the Orlando airport. God connected us somehow, some way. He said to me, “God woke me up full of the Holy Spirit this morning, and I knew something good was going to happen.” “You’re it, Mama! Here we are. God’s children!” Felt good to be something good for someone when I’ve had so much good coming my way.
God’s benefits… Kate saying, “Momo, you’re old aren’t you?!” “Yes, darling, I’m old.” Then she smiled and said, “I like old.”
Forget not all His benefits. Hope one of them is helping me with the baccalaureate talk.

We like YOU!!
Love you!
Praying for God to give you the perfect words to say - HIS Words - I know He will! <3
You can't be THAT old if you can still go down a water slide . We're the young/old, if just for a little while! xxoo
I like old too! It gives perspective. God will help you flesh out your title with words of life and the wisdom of old age perspective on those words! You go grandma
